A new entrance road to Jerusalem is estimated to cost more than NIS 1 billion

The State of Israel, through the Accountant General's Office in the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Transport and Road Safety, signed a franchise agreement with a company jointly owned by Shafir (50%) and Pizzrooti (50%) for planning, financing, Years of Road No. 16, the new entrance road to Jerusalem.
The new highway, estimated to cost more than NIS 1 billion, will be another central entrance to the capital and will connect the No. 1 national highway to the western and southern neighborhoods of Jerusalem, including two tunnels under the Yefe Nof and Har Nof neighborhoods. (Route 1), Ravida (Givat Shaoul) and Bate (near Shaare Zedek), and is expected to significantly improve access to Jerusalem, ease traffic congestion and reduce travel times.
Two months ago, the inter-ministerial tender committee for Highway 16 project, headed by Deputy Accountant General, Mr. Nehemia Kind, jointly with the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Transport and Road Safety, Netivei Israel, the Jerusalem Municipality and the government company Inbal, announced a proposal by Shafir-Pizzrotti Winner of the tender, out of the 6 groups participating in the tender. The tender was executed using the PPP - Public Private Partnership method, where the competition that was the subject of the tender was for the amount of the construction grant to be paid by the State to the winning bidder. Shafir-Pizzrotti's proposal for the construction grant was NIS 50 million, and Shafir-Pizzrotti is expected to begin construction of the road in 2019 and open it to traffic in 2022-2023.
