Teachers' union petitioned the justice court: apply the green label regulations on students

The teachers' union petitioned the justice court to order it to apply the green label regulations to school students as well, and not just to teachers. The organization has asked the High Court to issue an interim order directing the state to also require high school and middle school students to be vaccinated or present corona tests as a condition of school entry.
"This petition is intended to ensure that the opening of the school year does not drag the entire Israeli society into an abyss of contagion and increase morbidity," reads a petition filed by the law firms Sigal Active, against the Ministry of Education, the Attorney General, the local government center and regional councils. "Contrary to the rules that apply to closed gathering places, including institutions of higher education, it is precisely the post-primary schools that are allowed to enter all students, when these are not vaccinated and are not required to present a negative corona test."
According to data from the Ministry of Health, as of yesterday (Wednesday), 5,658 more verified students were discovered in Corona (about 53% of the new verified) - more than the Ministry of Education estimates, which expected about 5,000 verified students per day. The number of students defined as active patients has risen to about 40,000 today, and about 57,000 students are in isolation, unable to attend schools. In addition, as of yesterday, 2,450 sick teachers have been identified, and an additional 1,500 teachers are in isolation.
"All employees of the educational institution are obliged to present a green mark - and rightly so. But even though the vaccine is accessible to 12-year-olds and older, students are not obligated to do so. "He is forced and obliged to visit workplaces every day, most of which do not have a green label and are not required to present a negative test. The workplace of teaching staff in Israel is dangerous to their health and even poses a health risk in Israel."
The organization also protested that students are allowed to enter schools without vaccination or testing, while by government decision, teachers who refuse to be vaccinated or tested will go on unpaid leave.
