Israel has slightly improved its position in the 2024 Global Corruption Perceptions Index

Israel has slightly improved its position in the 2024 Global Corruption Perceptions Index, published today (Tuesday), moving up to 31st place, compared to 33rd place in the previous year's index.
The Global Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) by Transparency International (TI) is published annually and ranks 180 countries according to how corrupt they are perceived to be by businesspeople, academics and experts around the world. The index is used by businesses to assess the possibilities of doing business with most countries in the world. In Israel, it is published by Transparency International Israel.

Israel's score in the ranking — 64 out of 100 maximum points — is two points higher (good) than the previous year's score, but is still relatively low, and it was ranked below countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Barbados and Uruguay.
In the 2023 index, which focused on the connection between corruption and the damage to the democratic fabric of countries, Israel received a lower score, 62, against the backdrop of the promotion of the coup d'état. Although Israel's score increased, Transparency International Israel emphasized that this does not indicate a change in trend and that there is still a danger of harm to the legal system and gatekeepers. The least corrupt country, according to the index, is Denmark — for the second year in a row — which received a score of 90. It is followed by Finland with a score of 88, followed by Singapore with a score of 84. Other countries in the top ten are New Zealand, Luxembourg, Norway, Switzerland, and Sweden. The United States dropped from a score of 69 in 2023 to a score of 65 in the new ranking. The most corrupt country is South Sudan, which received only 8 points, followed by Somalia, Venezuela, and Syria.
