The serological examination for children: Problems continue including long queues

Posted on Aug 24, 2021 by Ifi Reporter

Even on the third day of the serological examination for children, the many problems continue, including long queues that can lead to infection, lack of equipment and lack of preparation. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health is considering canceling the operation completely.
In the shadow of the incidents and the harsh criticism revealed in the operation, reserve officers revealed that last night there was a situation assessment at the Home Front Command and it presented some of the gaps that caused difficulties in the tests and their awkwardness. As part of the lessons learned, some significant changes were made, hoping for a significant improvement in the process.

The malfunctions were due, among other things, to a load on the servers of Target, a company that specializes in PCR tests, and was asked to assist with serological tests. As a result of the load on the servers and the collapse of the app, many teams across the country began to move to manual registration. Due to this, it was decided that in the next day, the company that deals with the issue will be replaced.
In addition, it turned out that the gaps and the difficulty in withstanding the pressure of the scope of the tests were due to a shortage of skilled manpower, i.e. paramedics, as a result of which there was no one to perform tests for those standing in line. At night, the Home Front Command and the Ministry of Health made it clear to Defense Ministry officials that 5,000 medics had been recruited for the serological checkpoints around the country, and that a change could be seen in the next day.
Another discrepancy that led to the failure of the tests was that the training video for paramedics did not match the test kit that came from abroad, which caused a very large number of tests to be thrown in the trash. "The problem with the test kit and when it was discovered, the gap was closed relatively quickly by implementing the new video and testing as expected from the teams at the positions."
It also became clear that some of the positions around the country did not open on time, despite the schedules committed by the Home Front Command and the Ministry of Health to the public, as there was a shortage of medical equipment. According to the same sources, equipment completions have been made and already today it will be possible to see more positions to withstand the load.
Another gap that created delays was due to the attitude towards the children who came to be tested. "Every child who came for the test saw a child coming out crying or scared, even though the test was done quickly and sensitively. Therefore, it was decided to create a buffer between those entering and leaving the test," the reserve officer explained. A learning process and trying to soften the atmosphere for the children being tested through popsicles and other things. "
At the same time, security officials and reserve officers stressed that the gaps that were discovered were defined as birthmarks of Operation Bezeq. And evidently, according to them, more than 100,000 children were examined only yesterday.
