1.9 million person-nights were registered in hotels in Israel in September 2018, in which the Tishrei holidays were concentrated this year. This number reflects a decline in the number of tourist person-nights, which constituted 658,000 (34%) of total person-nights, and an increase in Israeli person-nights, amounting to 1.3 million person-nights.
The number of tourist person-nights reflects a slight decrease of 3% compared to September last year, and the number of Israeli person-nights reflects an increase of 8% due to the timing of the Jewish holidays on the weekdays, allowing long days off for both parents and children. Together with data from the Israel Airports Authority, which indicate a 7.5% increase in the number of people traveling abroad in September and with Isracard data that were transferred to "Globes", reflecting an increase in expenses for recreation and vacations. .
 38% of tourist person-nights were in Jerusalem, and 23% in Tel Aviv. The Israelis settled mainly in hotels in Eilat. Room occupancy in September was about 60% on average - a 5% decrease from September 2017 and a 12% drop from September 2016.
In the first nine months of 2018 to July, 8.2 million tourist person-nights were recorded, an increase of 9% compared with last year, and 10.7 million person-nights of Israelis, an increase of 3% over the corresponding period last year. Total number of person-nights since the beginning of the year reached 18.9 million, an increase of 5% compared with January-September last year. The average national room occupancy amounted to 67%, compared with 66% in 2017.
