Social Security data: 431,000 people who are on unpaid leave will still receive unemployment benefits

According to Social Security data, in May, 431,000 unemployed people who have been fired or are on unpaid leave will still receive unemployment benefits. This is compared to half a million unemployed who received unemployment benefits in April. These will be deposited this coming Sunday in the bank accounts of all those entitled to receive unemployment benefits.
366,000 of those eligible for payment will receive full unemployment benefits for each May. 65,000 will receive unemployment benefits for a partial month, after returning to work during that month with the decline in unemployment caused by the corona crisis. On Sunday, the National Insurance Institute will transfer about NIS 1.88 billion to the unemployed in May.
It is now estimated that in June the number of unemployed will decrease significantly due to the end of the payment of unemployment benefits to those staying in the IDF. These will probably continue, according to the designated finance minister, Avigdor Lieberman, only for those aged 45 and over.
It was reported this week that the number of unemployment benefit recipients in April who received unemployment benefits for 12-14 consecutive full months stood at 171,873 people. This is according to a periodic report of the Research Administration at the National Insurance Institute. The number of recipients of unemployment benefits this month, including those fired and those on unpaid leave, was 505,511.
Meanwhile, about 370,000 of the recipients of unemployment benefits (about 73% of them) received unemployment benefits for a full 6-14 months in a row, and there is a fear that they will have more difficulty than others in finding jobs, with more than 100,000 of them employed in jobs that closed completely, according to Data from the Central Bureau of Statistics published last week.
More than half of the long-term unemployment benefit recipients in April were from the hospitality and food services industry, and 31% of them were from the arts, entertainment and leisure industries.
