76% of teaching staff in Israel received two doses of vaccine against Corona

Posted on Mar 6, 2021 by Ifi Reporter

35% of teaching staff in ultra-Orthodox society have been diagnosed in the past year as positive for Corona. This emerges from data from the Ministry of Education, which are published today (Saturday) ahead of the third phase of the facilitation, which will allow the return of seventh- to tenth-grade students to frontal studies in localities where this will be possible. In the general society, the rate of those diagnosed was 10% of the teachers, while in the Arab society it was 16%.
According to data from the Ministry of Education, 76% of teaching staff in Israel received two doses of vaccine against corona, or became infected with the virus and recovered. To this rate, the ministry says, should be added another 15% of the teaching staff in the country who have so far been vaccinated only in the first dose.
The data show that 73% of the teachers in the general society received the two doses of the vaccine for corona, while 10% of them became infected with the virus and recovered. If so, the proportion of vaccinated teachers in general society stands at about 83%. In the ultra-Orthodox society, 37% were vaccinated and 35% were considered recovering, so the rate of those vaccinated there is 72%.
In Arab society the figure is the lowest. 44% of the teaching staff in Arab society have been vaccinated, while 16% have recovered - that is, 60% are recovering and getting vaccinated.
To these data will be added in the coming weeks, according to estimates, another 15% of teaching staff - who received only the first dose of vaccine, according to the Ministry of Education. The ministry did not specify from which sectors the same teachers come and what the division is.
In total, according to the data, about 68 teaching staff are not vaccinated, but considering the announcement that according to about 42,000 teaching staff will be vaccinated in the next three weeks - the proportion of teaching staff who have not been vaccinated is about 25 thousand.
These data, according to the Ministry of Education, also refer to assistants, servers, etc., who are employed by the Ministry of Education. They do not include teaching staff employed by local authorities, but are estimated to be identical. In total, the data refer to 284,771 teaching staff.
Education Minister Yoav Galant referred to the data and said that "my conclusion from these data was made about them and discredited the teaching staff when we see that they are the most vaccinated public in Israel," in his words. "All the unbridled attacks were out of place. The teachers excel in vaccines and attacked them in vain. We treat them for no reason."
According to Galant, "there is no sector in the population that is 76% after the second vaccination and recovery and therefore should apologize to the teaching staff. Since it is estimated that another 15% did the first vaccination - we estimate that by the end of the month over 90% of teaching staff will be vaccinated or recovering."
The Ministries of Education and Health strive to achieve full immunization rates among teaching staff. Minister Galant instructed to carry out information efforts among education and teaching staff including a campaign that is set to go up later this week to reach maximum immunizations by Passover.
