The chairman of the Pelephone Workers 'Committee, Yehiel Shemen, sent a letter of support to 5800 Amazon employees in Alabama who are currently voting for the establishment of a workers' union. This is the second attempt by the union of Amazon workers in the US Amazon's management is working during these weeks to thwart the organization and prevent employees from joining. Voting will continue until March 29 and will determine whether workers will join the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Workers Union. Amazon, which is the second-largest private employer in the U.S. that employs 1.3 million workers, has no unions. If the vote is accepted, employees in Alabama will be the company's first unionized workers in the United States.
A study published last September found that Amazon monitors employees in order to increase productivity and prevent incorporation across the U.S. According to the study, the company uses tools like a navigation plan, thermal cameras, security cameras to track workers in warehouses and stores. In order to locate and expose activists trying to unite the workers.
"The Pelephone workers' family embraces and strengthens your activities for the Amazon workers' union," Shemen wrote. "Every worker has the basic right to decide whether to join a workers' union. The law guarantees this right and no employer can take it away from you. The precedent-setting cell phone law of 2013, the Supreme Court of Justice in the State of Israel ruled that employers must not interfere in workers' unions. As those who always watch and learn from our big brothers in the US, we have the right to assist you in this important fight.
"The manager must not approach his employees and try to prevent their incorporation. This is your right, not your employer's. Your right to better terms of employment, your right to influence negotiations with management, your right to receive safety terms, training, breaks and proper pay.
"It is not possible that the overwhelming majority of Amazon employees earn the minimum wage, while the company's share has soared by about 30 percent in the past year and the wealth of owner Jeff Bezos has soared by $ 72 billion.
