IAI is expanding its family of electro-optical payloads: MegaPOP system

Posted on Feb 18, 2021 by Ifi Reporter

The aerospace industry is expanding its family of electro-optical payloads (EO / IR): the company presents the MegaPOP system - an advanced, state-of-the-art electro-optical payload system, the company's electro-optics and navigation company. The new payload is for terrestrial uses for marine or terrestrial border protection applications, sensitive facilities or any other operational task that requires extremely long-term observation performance, as well as high-definition HD vision capabilities using a system that integrates multiple sensors simultaneously.
MegaPOP video shooting system simultaneously in a thermal | HD channel that allows night vision, a color day photography channel at HD level or higher, and a combination of photography with the latest SWIR HD technology, combined with continuous zoom capability that gives the user full performance even in extremely difficult viewing conditions. The system has an extremely long viewing range and combines multi-spectral capabilities, including an exceptional range of sensors that can be operated in parallel use including a range of laser capabilities. The system also includes advanced tracking capabilities, special image processing and additional means of extracting information and automating observation tasks. The gyro stabilization system is built to a particularly high standard that allows a stable image in all environmental conditions. In addition, the system includes an independent capability of finding north with high precision that allows finding the targets and further managing them. The system is designed with advanced digital interfaces that allow simple control even from remote control positions and is designed for operational work combined with additional sensors such as radars, ELINT systems, systems COMINT and more.
Avi Elisha, Director of Tamm in IAI: "The system development reflects decades of experience we have gained in developing the most advanced observation systems in the world, as well as inertial navigation system development capabilities. Using the MegaPOP system will provide our customers with advanced observation capabilities and improved performance. "In severe weather conditions and optical detection in extremely long ranges. The system performs exceptionally well in the international EO / IR market and we are proud to provide this additional advanced solution to our customers around the world."
The MegaPOP system, developed at Tamm, the Electro-Optics and Navigation Division of IAI's Missile and Space Systems Division, joins Tamm's EO / IR family, which includes the M19, MOSP, POP and MiniPOP families, Micro-POP, POPSTAR and EO / IR systems. More. IAI is a center of national and global technological knowledge in the fields of air defense, radars, satellites, unmanned aerial vehicles, civil aviation and cyber.
