Missile has been Fired from Yemen and Triggers Alarms Across Southern Israel

Posted on Jun 28, 2025 by Ifi Reporter - Dan Bielski

Air raid sirens sounded Saturday morning in multiple communities across southern Israel following the launch of a missile from Yemen. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that the missile was intercepted, marking the first such alarm since the ceasefire agreement with Iran took effect earlier this week.

Sirens were activated in Dimona, Arad, Beersheba, and other areas in the Negev, Dead Sea region, and Mount Hebron. No casualties or property damage were reported.

An IDF spokesperson stated: “A single missile was launched from Yemen. An interception attempt was made, and the missile was apparently intercepted. The alerts were activated according to operational policy.”

Tensions Resurface Despite Iran Ceasefire

The incident comes just days after the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran was implemented on Sunday morning. While the ceasefire initially appeared to hold, Iranian missile fire into Israel earlier in the week was widely seen as a violation of the deal.

Senior officials within Israel’s security establishment and political leadership said: “Iran chose to violate the ceasefire.” In response, Israel threatened to launch a major retaliatory strike.

U.S. President Donald Trump has since urged Israel to exercise restraint, calling on the Israeli government to “bring back the pilots” and avoid further escalation.

Houthi Attempts on the Rise

According to Israeli defense sources, Saturday’s launch was the latest in a series of missile attempts by the Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen. Since the ceasefire took effect, the Houthis have tried multiple times to strike Israeli territory, though until now, none of the missiles had reached within Israel’s borders.

The most recent previous attempt was on Thursday, when a missile was intercepted outside Israeli territory.
