Israelis are not paying Corona fines: Amounted to NIS 320 million

The Enforcement and Collection Authority reports that in the last week, until 8.2.21, 24,000 Corona fines were received. The amount of the total reports distributed is NIS 345 million and the public's debt, including interest, is currently NIS 320 million. Corona, of which 424,000 status reports are still unpaid.
In Jerusalem, 2,946 fines were distributed from the beginning of February 2021 and a total of 94,000 from March 2020, in Tel Aviv 1,667 and a total of 32,000, in Haifa 664 and a total of 12,364 and in Be'er Sheva 526 and a total of 10,506. In addition, 1,386 fines were distributed to residents of the Palestinian Authority and unrecognized localities in February, and a total of 41,190. In Bnei Brak, 5,957 fines were issued between April 2020 and February 2021.
To date, 161,000 fines have been paid in the total amount of NIS 82 million. It will be clarified, however, that the recipient of the fine has up to 90 days to pay the fine and therefore most of the fines that were distributed in November, December and January have not yet passed the deadline for payment. Most of the reports paid (79%) were paid within the 90 days and some (21%) were paid late.
The director of the Center for the Collection of Fines in the Enforcement and Collection Authority, Doron Infrastructure, stated that "it is clear that citizens pay these fines, most of them are paid within the time limit set by law and that the reports that there is a 'payment revolt' are unfounded."
