The vacancy rate in small businesses fell by 40% compared to the previous year

The vacancy rate in small businesses employing 50-99 workers fell sharply in 2020 by 40% compared to the previous year. This is compared to a 29% decrease in demand for employees in large businesses that employ more than 250 jobs. This is according to data published by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS).
The vacancy rate in the general population decreased by 31% in 2020 compared to 2019 due to the corona crisis. In an international comparison, the decline in jobs in Italy was 40%, in the UK 37%, in the US and Belgium there was a 9% decline.
Due to the third closure, the number of job vacancies began to rise again, and in December their rate reached 2.56%, compared with 2.53% of the jobs in the economy. In total, there were 60.24 thousand job vacancies in December, compared to 59.61 thousand in November 2020.
The impact of the crisis on the vacancy rate by industry is very different: in hospitality and food services, there was a decrease of 48% in 2020 compared to 2019, in arts, entertainment and leisure a decrease of 47%; In financial services and insurance services a decrease of 41%; In trade and transport and postal services a decrease of 39%; In industry, mining and quarrying, electricity and water supply decreased by 31%; In real estate activities 29%; in education 23%; in information and communication there was a decrease of 21% in job vacancies and closing the list construction industries with 18% decrease and as expected health, welfare and welfare services with a relatively small decrease of 16%.
By industry, the number of job vacancies was from October to December 2020: Top engineers with 9,253 job vacancies, of which 6,994 were software developers, 4,655 sales workers, 3,756 caregivers, sequencers, chippers, plasterers, locksmiths and skeleton workers in construction - 3,362 job vacancies .
Also missing were 2,572 telephone sales representatives, 2,557 practical engineers and technicians, 2,050 kitchen and cleaning workers, 1,724 truck and bus drivers, 1,517 clerks, 1,368 security guards and also hundreds of waiters and bartenders (503), home builders and concrete layers (777) and cooks (245).
Demand for labor fell in 2020 compared to 2019 in the sharpest 38% in the Northern District. The lowest vacancy rate was in the Jerusalem District. In the Southern District, the decline in demand for labor is lower than in all other districts, at a rate of 22%.
