Lufthansa Group to Resume Flights to Israel Starting August 1st: Initial Schedule Includes 44 Weekly Flights

Posted on Jul 23, 2025 by Ifi Reporter - Dan Bielski

The Lufthansa Group, which includes Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Eurowings, and Lufthansa Cargo, announced on Tuesday that it will gradually resume operations to and from Israel starting Friday, August 1, 2025, following a months-long suspension due to regional security concerns.

Three Airlines to Launch First Flights

The first to resume passenger and cargo services will be:

  • Lufthansa (Frankfurt–Tel Aviv, Munich–Tel Aviv)

  • Austrian Airlines (Vienna–Tel Aviv)

  • Lufthansa Cargo (Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna–Tel Aviv)

All three will begin service on August 1, with Brussels Airlines expected to restart flights on August 13.

Initial Schedule: 44 Weekly Flights

In its initial phase, the Lufthansa Group plans to operate 44 weekly flights between Israel and Europe throughout August:

  • Lufthansa: Frankfurt–Tel Aviv, Munich–Tel Aviv (starting August 1)

  • Austrian Airlines: Vienna–Tel Aviv (starting August 1)

  • Brussels Airlines: Brussels–Tel Aviv (starting August 13)

  • Lufthansa Cargo: Daily cargo flights between Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna, and Tel Aviv (starting August 1)

SWISS and Eurowings to Return Later

The company said that SWISS and Eurowings will resume operations at a later stage due to ongoing operational constraints:

  • SWISS, which had previously suspended its Israel flights until October 25, will now resume service earlier, on September 29.

  • Eurowings will resume operations on October 26, as originally scheduled.

Flight Freeze Followed Regional Tensions

The Lufthansa Group initially suspended flights to Israel after a Houthi missile incident near Ben Gurion Airport earlier this year. Although it had planned to resume flights on June 23, renewed regional unrest during Operation “With the Dog” prompted the group to extend the suspension through the end of July.

With improved security assessments and renewed coordination with Israeli aviation authorities, the Lufthansa Group now says it is ready to reopen key air routes.
