"Israeli startups need to fight Amazons who steals young talents"

The war that Amazon is waging on recruiting high-tech employees and what is called the kidnapping of profesionals from Israeli companies is worming up. Sivan Avihud, a recruitment specialist, offers Israeli entrepreneurs not to panic, and to steal back workers from Amazon

According to Avihud, wages are not the most important part of the process of kidnapping an employee from a company. She believes that a person will not spend time at a company like Amazon just because of higher pay that Amazon offers. "Much more important to most employees is the ability to influence the company they are in and not just being a small cog in a big system," Avihud said. She added that the possibility of growth in the company and personal development in the career are important for young workers. The atmosphere in the workplace and the connection with other employees and managers also become a central consideration for workers

According to her, the size of Amazon is also its weakness. Big companies like Amazon know how to pay high wages but beyond that they are limited because they are too big. What effect can a worker have on Amazon if he is one of thousands of other employees? When you are part of such a large group, you have to stand out from it to the impossible. Employees who come to Amazon from start-ups will feel the bureaucracy from day one. Employees who are used to talking with the CEO at any moment will find that they can not negotiate with senior executives in a multinational company.

Therefore, Avihud believes that in order to prevent the steeling of workers, small high-tech companies must undergo aggressive defense. If what motivates people to get up is different from pay, give them a sense that they are influential and important. Israeli entrepreneurs should not let a brand like Amazon affect them and feel that if Amazon took workers I have nothing to do. Israel's "chutzpah" must be allowed to win.

Sivan Avihud heads Link2USA, which specializes in locating talented employees in the US high-tech giants like Amazon, Google and Facebook, and in recruiting Israeli entrepreneurs who expand their activities to America
