approved: concessions in obtaining medical licenses for doctors immigrated to Israel

Posted on Nov 22, 2020 by Ifi Reporter - Dan Bielski

The government has approved significant concessions in obtaining medical licenses in Israel, for doctors and nurses who have immigrated to Israel. But it turns out that the decision was made without consulting the Medical Association and contrary to the position of senior officials in the Ministry of Health.
"I welcome the government's decision. As a representative of the immigrants in the past, I can remember all the directors of the Ministry of Health for generations, because I fought with everyone for this thing. I now feel like the wing of history history has been settled for an injustice that has lasted for years. During this there is both encouragement of immigration and great news for immigrants in the immigrant medical professions. "Beyond that, the State of Israel needs every doctor and every nurse and brother and every paramedical person," said Health Minister Yuli Edelstein after the government's approval.
This is a bill that stipulates, among other things, that a doctor with 5 years of experience abroad may obtain a medical license without performing a clinical examination. In the case of nurses, it was proposed to allow a simulated test instead of a theoretical test. In addition, it was approved that the committee would recognize a foreign license for dentists without the need for an examination.
This was done without consultation with the Histadrut, which is a professional union and also to the medical staff committee. Also within the Ministry of Health there are senior officials who did not know about the move. Among them are those who claim that it also involves considerable risks Teeth, and nurses come from all over the globe when the level of medicine and training is different in each country and state.Through them, there are those whose professional level is insufficient and the relief may allow them to get a license.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health said that the death toll from the Corona virus had risen in the last 45 days, to 2,799. By midnight to 6 p.m., another 384 people had been diagnosed with the virus. 545 patients are currently hospitalized across the country. 299 of them in critical condition, of whom 121 were respirators. Yesterday, 416 patients were diagnosed out of 15,376 subjects, and the rate of positive tests was 2.8%. 328,918 people were diagnosed with the outbreak in the plague in Israel.
