General Nimrod Sheffer was appointed to IAI CEO

IAI's Board of Directors (IAI) announced the appointment of General (Res.) Nimrod Sheffer as its CEO. Shafer beat the other two leading candidates - VP and Director of the Missile and Space Systems Division, Boaz Levy, and Eyal Yunian, CFO of the company. All three received the highest rating in the framework of examinations conducted by the internal screening committee established by the company. The appointment will now be approved by the Government Companies Authority and the Ministers of Defense and Finance.

Shafer, who began his position at the company only six months ago, retired from the army three years ago and in his last position served as head of the Planning Division. He did most of his service in the Air Force, as a combat pilot and later in command positions, including the chief of staff. As part of his role in the army he is well acquainted with the field of aerospace, as well as the entire defense establishment and the challenges it faces. The company presented the appointment as an appointment from within, even though it is in the company only a short time.

He will replace Yossi Weiss, who announced his departure at the end of 2017. During his tenure, IAI's orders backlog grew at an all-time high of $ 11 billion, and it signed the largest security deal in Israel's history - $ 2.5 billion to supply defense systems, Developed and manufactured by IAI, to India.
Yesterday, the District Court was asked to vote after two representatives of the directors, Haim Dahan and Hillel Kane, were not allowed to attend the meeting. This is due to an instruction by the Government Companies Authority that employees' representatives can not participate in meetings of appointment of the CEO due to a built-in conflict of interests.
