Missile Fired from Yemen Intercepted Over Dead Sea Area; No Casualties Reported
Posted on Jul 6, 2025 by Ifi Reporter - Dan Bielski
A missile launched from Yemen by Houthi forces was intercepted overnight by Israeli defense systems, the IDF confirmed early Sunday morning. The incident triggered air raid sirens across communities in the Dead Sea and Judean Desert regions, though no casualties or damage were reported.
According to the IDF Spokesperson, the missile was detected at 2:43 a.m., and interception systems were activated shortly thereafter. The Home Front Command issued an alert at 2:48 a.m., just minutes before sirens blared at 2:51 a.m. in the following areas:
-
Dead Sea region: Ein Gedi, Ein Gedi Baths, Metsukei Dragot, Mitzpe Shalem
-
Judean Desert: Carmel, Ma'on, Ma'ale Hever, Mitzad, Ma'ale Amos, Pnei Kedem
Roughly ten minutes later, the IDF announced that the threat had been neutralized, and civilians were cleared to leave protected spaces.
No Casualties or Damage Reported
Magen David Adom (MDA) confirmed it received no emergency calls or reports of missile impacts or injuries.
This marks the latest attempted strike by the Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen, who have repeatedly targeted Israeli territory in recent months in coordination with Tehran.
Part of Ongoing Houthi Campaign
This was the fourth missile launch from Yemen in recent weeks:
-
Tuesday, July 2: A Houthi missile was intercepted after triggering widespread alarms in central Israel, Jerusalem, and the Negev.
-
Saturday, June 29: Alarms activated in Beersheba, Arad, Dimona, and the Dead Sea after a missile from Yemen was intercepted at 07:25 a.m.
-
Thursday, June 27: A missile launched by the Houthis failed mid-flight before reaching Israel; no alarms were triggered.
Following last week's attack, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant issued a stark warning:
“Yemen’s law is the same as Tehran’s law. After we hit the snake in Tehran — we will strike the Houthis in Yemen. Whoever raises his hand against Israel — his hand will be cut off.”
Ceasefire with Iran Holding, Houthi Threat Persists
While a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran has been in place since June 24, Houthi militants — viewed as a proxy of Tehran — have continued to fire at Israel, raising concerns over regional escalation and proxy warfare.
Despite the ongoing threat, Israeli air defenses have intercepted each missile successfully, and civilian impact has remained minimal. However, the psychological toll of frequent late-night alarms and uncertainty continues to weigh on residents across Israel’s south and center.
