IATI to Netanyahu: Recognize certain high-tech and Biomed companies as essential

Posted on Sep 28, 2020 by Ifi Reporter - Dan Bielski

The Israeli Association of Advanced Industries (IATI) for the government: Recognize certain high-tech and biomed companies as essential enterprises and exclude them from the closure. A few hours before the entry into force of Yom Kippur, an urgent letter was sent to the Prime Minister, the Corona Projector, the Ministers of Economy, Health and Science and other government bodies by the Israel Advanced Industries Association (IATI), the umbrella organization of high-tech industries, life sciences and other advanced industries in Israel. Recognition of certain high-tech and biomed companies as essential enterprises and their exclusion from quarantine.
The above requirement is extremely critical for the Israeli economy and the functioning of companies with unique manufacturing plants and operations that can only exist in dedicated and non-convertible facilities for work from home, such as chip manufacturing plants with "clean rooms", state-of-the-art servers, laboratories and advanced medical and research equipment.
The letter states, "In light of the steep rise in the outbreak and outbreak of the Corona virus, we are strengthening your hands in the fight against the epidemic and make it clear that the high-tech and biomedical industry has embraced every effort and will obey all government directives and professional guidelines.
However, we would like to clarify that the advanced industries in Israel are not "one piece" and each of the companies has different and diverse characteristics.
Most companies that can maintain a "work from home" format already do so and will expand this trend in accordance with government decisions and guidelines for the upcoming closure. In contrast, there are companies that have unique manufacturing plants and activities that can only exist
In dedicated facilities) such as chip manufacturing plants where there are "clean rooms", high-tech companies that use sophisticated servers, companies from the life sciences that use laboratories and medical equipment and advanced research on a daily basis, and more. As you know, the advanced industries are the driving force behind the growth of the Israeli economy and most of them export their products to the global market. Imposing a hermetic closure and full restrictions on companies that are unable to convert 100% of their activities to "work from home" hurts them fatally and dramatically damages the Israeli economy.
We call on you to apply criteria that will allow the recognition of certain high-tech and biomed companies as "essential enterprises". As the umbrella organization of the advanced industries in Israel, the IATI is right and interested in helping to formulate such criteria. " The union hopes and believes that they will find a sympathetic ear in Prime Minister Netanyahu on Tuesday.
