The Knesset plenum approved on first reading the closure regulations by a majority of 36 supporters against 32 opponents. Among the opponents - MKs Miki Haimovich, Ram Shefa and Yaakov Litzman.
Haimovich said after the vote: "I chose according to my conscience and I agree with that. This law should not have been put to the vote today, and the basic rights should be preserved. When there is logic, the public responds and cooperates. When there is no logic the public does the opposite, and I fear to the depths of my soul That this is the direction we are heading.
"The demonstration is a basic and fundamental right, as well as freedom of movement. Violation of them is a last resort, and I was not convinced that all possibilities have been exhausted. I am writing this very carefully, after hearing the opinion of experts, including experts appointed by the government itself."
The hearing itself opened belatedly after Minister David Amsalem claimed he was delayed due to a "demonstration by anarchists" who hurled insults at him, shouting among other things: "Amsalem you are a thief, we can, you will go to prison Shemen Shemen". He opened with accusations against Knesset members from the opposition and a white brush and accused the Attorney General of the crisis.
MK Tamar Zandberg came out during Amsalem's speech, after it called her a "violent woman" and claimed that she "takes over here like all your friends." He was followed by Knesset members from the opposition and the coalition, but the level of discussion did not rise and dealt mainly with the question of whether Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pushed for a comprehensive closure following the demonstrations in Balfour or not.
MK Yaakov Litzman spoke about his resignation from the government, claiming: "They worked on us all the time. I demanded that they close even when we were 2,000 patients a day, and I told Minister Deri that Prof. Gamzo plotted to close on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. No one believed me at the time, and even "I wrote about it in the informant newspaper. I announced that I would resign from the government - and you will be surprised to hear, there is a person who keeps what he said."
