Starting at midnight, more countries will be added to the list of "green" countries, according to an update to the Public Health Order. The other countries from which Israelis will not be required to enter isolation are Thailand, Australia, Singapore, Portugal, Norway, Ireland, Uruguay and Taiwan. The United Arab Emirates will also be on the list.
These countries join the list of "green" countries approved two weeks ago, including Austria, Italy, Estonia, Bulgaria, the United Kingdom, Georgia, Germany, Denmark, Hong Kong, Hungary, Greece, Jordan, Latvia, Lithuania, New Zealand, Slovenia, Finland, Canada, Cyprus, Croatia and Rwanda.
Although all those entering Israel from those destinations will not be required to stay in isolation, almost no country accepts Israelis due to the high level of morbidity. The list of "green" countries is updated on the website of the Ministry of Health once every two weeks.
The Ministry of Health emphasized that all passengers to and from Israel must fill out an online health declaration before entering Ben Gurion Airport or boarding a flight in the country of origin. "Passengers are asked to maintain the rules of social distance even in the destination countries."
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced about two weeks ago that Israel is working to allow flights in Saudi Arabia, in order to shorten the flight time to the United Arab Emirates. At a press conference held at the end of a tour of Ben Gurion Airport, Netanyahu said that this would significantly shorten the duration of the flight to the country, with which an agreement was announced to normalize relations, as well as to the countries of the Far East.
Morbidity data in the UAE are very low compared to Israel, and the daily number of tests is much larger. In recent days, 70,000 tests have been performed in the UAE every day, of which only 300-350 have been positive for Corona - only about 0.5% compared to 8-9% in Israel.
Earlier, the Ministry of Health announced that it recommends allowing Israelis to leave for Sinai, with a 14-day isolation obligation for returnees. The head of the public health services at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Sharon Elrai, sent a letter to Interior Minister Aryeh Deri. In the southern part of Sinai, where the beaches and tourists are concentrated, the administration has declared it a 'free from Corona' area. "Deri will discuss the opening of the border crossing in Taba tomorrow.
Dr. Elrai explained in her letter that “Sinai is divided into two parts: northern and southern. In the southern part, where the beaches and tourists are concentrated, the administration has declared 'Corona free' territory. In practice, the cases reported there are few, and they are geographically dispersed. "However, she stressed that" the possibility of under-diagnosis and under-reporting by Egypt cannot be ruled out.
