The Corona Cabinet approved a list of 3 "green states" whose returnees do not need isolation

Posted on Aug 13, 2020 by Ifi Reporter

The Corona Cabinet on Thursday approved the list of "green states" whose returnees do not need isolation. The decision applies to two groups of countries: the first includes Bulgaria, Croatia and Greece (600 tourists a week), with these countries not requiring Israelis to enter isolation, and those returning from them do not need isolation.
The second group includes Italy, the United Kingdom, Georgia, Germany, Hong Kong, Jordan, Latvia, Lithuania, New Zealand, Estonia, Canada, Rwanda, Denmark, Slovenia and Austria. Unlike the first group, these countries do require Israelis who come to them to enter for 14 days. However, in light of the decision, those returning to Israel from these countries will not be required to be isolated.
The move was approved following an agreement between Transport Minister Miri Regev, Health Minister Yuli Edelstein, Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi and Tourism Minister Assaf Zamir. The four ministers were authorized to promote the layout of the "blue sign" for the opening of the sky, with the deadline set for the resumption of flights being 16 August. According to the outline, the airport will resume operations on international flights, with the goal of allowing Israelis to depart for countries defined by the Ministry of Health as green, without the obligation of isolation.
The decision to define the "blue mark" came after during a discussion held earlier this month in the Corona Committee in the Knesset, allegations were made by members of the tourism industry, exporters and airlines against the almost complete paralysis in the field in 2020.
Earlier today, Israel and Greece agreed on a pilot to resume flights, during which 600 tourists will take off each week for four destinations - Athens, Thessaloniki, Crete and Corfu. "This decision expresses the warm bond between the countries and the common desire to return to a normal routine of life in the Corona era and hopes that more European countries will also adopt this decision," welcomed Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi.
According to a senior Foreign Ministry official, a date has not yet been set for the start of the pilot, but it will be soon after the professional teams continue to discuss the issue. He added that "the emerging conditions will be a one-week stay in Greece only, corona checks at take-off and landing, isolation at the hotel until the results are received, without isolation back to the country."
