Bezeq CEO Stella Hendler will step down July 1st

Stella Handler announced to the chairman of Bezeq that she would step down as Bezeq's CEO on July 1st.
Hendler briefed in a statement that after completing five years in her job and towards replacing ownership of the company and in light of police investigations, she decided to step down from her position. It's the right thing to do, both for myself and for Bezeq," she said.

According to her, Bezeq today is a stronger and more competitive company, and well prepared to maintain the lead in the future. She wanted to thank Bezeq employees for taking the lead and continuing to lead the company to success. "I want to thank each and every one of them from the bottom of my heart for five wonderful years of working together," she said.
As soon as she took office she accelerated the deployment of the fiber-optic infrastructure, and as of today, optical fibers connect about one million six hundred thousand households.

The Antitrust Authority announced last week its intention to impose financial sanctions of NIS 30 million on Bezeq due to "harm to competition". The Authority said that Bezeq "abused its monopoly position in communications infrastructure in order to harm competition in the provision of communications services."

 Antitrust Commissioner Michal Halperin told Bezeq that it is considering that Bezeq has abused its control of passive communications infrastructures in order to harm competition. The damage itself was ostensibly done by blocking and making it difficult for competitors to deploy a wired communications network over Bezeq's infrastructure.
Thus, the General Director claimed, Bezeq delayed the development of competition in the provision of communications services of the Internet, television and fixed line telephony.
