After the average wage in the economy for Israeli workers rose in February and March and reached a peak of NIS 12,740 - it fell in April by 6.9% compared to the previous month to NIS 11,661. This is according to data published by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS).

During the crisis, which may explain the sharp decline in the average wage this month. The largest increase in the number of employee jobs was in the accommodation and food services industry - 12.5% ​​and in the entertainment and leisure arts industry - 11.1%. These industries were the main victims of the Corona crisis, and after the end of the third closure that took place in January 2021, a recovery is evident. It should be noted that the Israeli labor market has not yet returned to full recovery, the number of employee jobs in April is still lower than the number of employee jobs in February 2020 (3.781 million) before the outbreak of the corona plague.
The largest increase in the number of employee jobs was in the hospitality and food services industry - 12.5% ​​and in the entertainment and leisure arts industry - 11.1%. The industry that tops the ranking of wage earners is information and communication with an average wage of NIS 25,260. It is followed by employees of the financial services and insurance with NIS 21,129 and employees of electricity and water supply, sewage and purification services and waste treatment with a salary of NIS 19,931.
At the bottom of the salary table are employees of accommodation and food services (hotels, restaurants, cafes), with a salary of only NIS 5,450, very close to the minimum wage of NIS 5,300 per month. In front of them are various service workers with an average salary of NIS 5,906, employees of management and support services - NIS 6,431 and workers in the arts, entertainment and leisure industry (excluding the artists) with an average monthly salary of NIS 6,874.
The high-tech sector is presented separately in the CBS report, when in April the average salary of an employee in the field was NIS 26,489, a decrease of 9.6% compared to March (NIS 29,293) and an increase of 4.6% compared to April 2020 (NIS 25,317).
The list of high-wage earners in high-tech is led by scientific research and development workers with an average of NIS 31,163 in April. They are followed by workers in the field of programming and consulting with NIS 27,301.
In April, the number of employee jobs in the high-tech field was 334.8 thousand, an increase of 0.5% compared to March (333 thousand). Employee jobs in the high-tech field accounted for 9.5% of all employee jobs in the economy.
