The Prime Minister's Conference on Innovation, initiated by the Ministry of Culture and Sport and the Peres Center for Peace and Innovation, hosted dozens of delegations from the United States, China, Italy, France, Australia, Britain, Korea, Mexico, Switzerland, Uganda, Singapore, Italy, Russia, Hong Kong The Israel Innovation Center, and special round-table discussions were held between the international teams in order to create solutions to the large problems faced by many countries in the world and how Israeli technology, research and knowledge can contribute to the development of solutions.
The Chinese vice president's visit is the visit of the most senior person to come to Israel from China in the last 18 years. At the center of the Chinese vice president's visit to Israel were the talks between the Israeli and Chinese delegations in the inter-governmental G2G format. Eight joint agreements were signed in the fields of science and technology, life sciences, innovation, digital health, and agriculture. The Chinese prime minister and vice president signed the new three-year plan of the conference.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with the vice president of China for a conversation at the Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem. The Prime Minister's Award for Innovation was awarded to three Israeli start-ups.
The Innovation Center of Israel will be inaugurated at the Peres Center for Peace and Innovation in Jaffa. Due to the expected severe weather, the event was transferred from the yard of the building in Jaffa to the exhibition grounds in Tel Aviv. The new innovation center serves as a showcase for Israeli high-tech, presenting the Israeli inventions that have emerged from Israel, and the contribution of Israeli innovation to dealing with the challenges of the future in health, food, agriculture, cyber and sustainability. The center also features the current high-tech capabilities of Israeli start-ups in a display that will be updated each year. On four floors, there are 100 events that have transformed Israel into a start-up nation, through representatives, models and prototypes of Israeli inventions, and the presence of Israeli inventors in interactive holograms.
The establishment of the Israel Innovation Center was one of President Shimon Peres' flagship project before his death. Two years ago, together with President Rivlin and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, he laid the cornerstone for Israel's innovation center, which was inaugurated this week. IAI, the Industrialists' Association, Intel, Tzuk Point, Orbotech and Earth participated in the establishment of the innovation center, and will conduct workshops and seminars at the center alongside important launches and events in each field.
