Microsoft Israel Research and Development announced on Wednesday that it intends to double the number of its employees in the next four years - from about 2,000 to about 4,500. Due to the expected jump in the number of employees, Microsoft has announced that it will open five new development centers in Israel in the coming years.
The company will establish a new campus in Tel Aviv that will be spread over 25,000 square meters and will house more than 1,000 employees.
A new center in Herzliya will be built with a size of 17,000 square meters that will accommodate 1,000 employees as well and is expected to be built near the company's advanced campus.

Two more development centers will open next year in Jerusalem and Be'er Sheva, with the aim of expanding geographically and attracting workers from the periphery and populations with under-representation in the high-tech industry, such as the ultra-Orthodox public and the Arab-Israeli public. The location of the fifth site has not yet been determined and will be decided in the near future. Microsoft states that its location will be determined taking into account the company's desire to make its work accessible to diverse populations and to allow employees who prefer to work from the office to reduce travel time to it from home.
Microsoft has examined the effects of its hybrid work model on its employees, and the findings indicate that the company's employees want to divide their work time between remote work and work from the office. The findings also show that the ability of employees to choose and combine the various options leads to higher satisfaction and organizational flexibility.
These days, the company is working to immediately recruit hundreds of new employees for a variety of new positions, from management positions in the fields of development to student positions. In the last year and a half, the number of the company's employees, who currently work in Herzliya, Haifa, Tel Aviv and Nazareth, has increased by 30%.
Michal Braverman-Blumenstein, CEO of Microsoft Israel Research and Development: "The establishment of Microsoft's new development centers in Israel and the plans to recruit thousands of employees attest to the enormous importance that Microsoft attaches to its development activities in Israel and its rare trust in Israeli talent. The new development centers will help us continue to grow, recruit the most talented people into our ranks and build the technologies of tomorrow. We want Microsoft to be a possible home for every suitable candidate all over the country, so I'm especially happy that we're coming to Jerusalem and Beer Sheva for the first time. "Microsoft Israel Research and Development has about 30 different product groups that lead a significant portion of Microsoft's global products, and partners in the development and production of advanced technologies in a variety of areas such as information security, cloud, big data, digital health, autonomous driving, business intelligence and Surface devices."
Microsoft Israel Research and Development was established in 1991, and became the company's first development center outside the United States. The center focuses on information security, artificial intelligence, start-ups, the garage (innovation lab) and more.
