An Israeli reserve officer was killed and several soldiers were wounded in fighting in southern Lebanon, as rocket fire struck northern Israel and regional tensions with Iran continued to escalate—underscoring the widening scope of the conflict.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said Maj. (res.) Eyal Uriel Bianco, 30, from Katzrin, was killed during combat operations in southern Lebanon. In the same incident, three additional reservists were wounded—one moderately and two lightly.

In a separate incident, the military said two other reserve soldiers were seriously wounded in ongoing fighting in the area.

Rocket Fire Hits Northern Israel

Approximately 30 rockets were launched toward northern Israel since the morning, with impacts reported in Safed, Nahariya, Deir al-Asad, and Misgav Am.

Emergency services said several sites sustained damage. In Metula, a fire broke out at a packing facility following a strike, while additional damage was reported to buildings and infrastructure across the region.

The Home Front Command said civilian protection guidelines would remain unchanged at least until the following evening, urging residents to continue adhering to safety instructions.

Continued Fighting in Southern Lebanon

The incidents come amid intensified Israeli military operations in southern Lebanon, where ground forces have been engaged in ongoing combat against Hezbollah positions.

Lebanon’s state news agency reported that eight public sector workers were killed in an Israeli strike in the city of Nabatieh. The report has not been independently verified.

Iran Front: Diplomacy Alongside Escalation

At the same time, tensions between the United States and Iran remain high, despite ongoing diplomatic efforts. President Donald Trump recently announced a two-week pause in planned strikes on Iran to allow for negotiations over a potential ceasefire framework.

The proposed arrangement includes a temporary cessation of hostilities and the reopening of key maritime routes, though significant gaps remain between the sides. Iran continues to demand sanctions relief and broader guarantees, while the United States has signaled that military options remain on the table.

Strait of Hormuz Standoff Raises Global Concerns

Adding to the uncertainty is the ongoing standoff in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical النفط shipping routes.

Iran has threatened to restrict or close the strait, while Western officials have warned of severe global economic consequences if maritime traffic is disrupted. The waterway handles a significant share of global oil shipments, making it a central pressure point in the broader confrontation.

A Multi-Front Conflict Expands

The convergence of sustained rocket fire from Lebanon, Israeli ground operations, and rising tensions with Iran highlights the increasingly interconnected nature of the conflict.

While diplomatic efforts continue, the situation on the ground suggests that escalation remains a real and immediate risk across multiple fronts.
