Dozens of right-wing activists gathered Wednesday evening outside the Tel Aviv home of Lucy Aharish, a journalist with Network 13, marking the fourth such incident in a week.
According to witnesses at the scene, several activists shouted threats and inflammatory slogans, including statements implying the protests would continue and expressing hostility toward Arabs. During the confrontation, stones were reportedly thrown at a photographer from Haaretz who had arrived to document the event.
Police forces were deployed to the area, alongside approximately ten volunteers affiliated with anti-government protest groups who said they came to prevent demonstrators from approaching the building. Officers arrested one activist on suspicion of spitting at police and detained two others. One individual was apprehended outside the entrance to Aharish’s apartment building and later released under restrictive conditions. Another was detained on suspicion of disturbing the peace.
Demonstrations Continue Despite Police Action
The protest followed similar incidents earlier in the week. On Tuesday evening, activists again assembled outside Aharish’s residence. Footage from the scene showed police arriving minutes later and blocking access to the building entrance before dispersing demonstrators to a nearby square.
Among those detained was right-wing activist Burns, who was later filmed stating that any detention or restraining order imposed on activists would only prompt repeated returns.
Earlier this week, police also detained activists Mordechai David and Rami Ben Yehuda after they entered the residential building using public address systems. Authorities said the two were suspected of trespassing and disturbing the peace. Video circulating on social media showed David holding a megaphone inside the building.
After several hours, both men were released under restrictive conditions, including a 14-day ban on contacting Aharish or approaching her residence. Ben Yehuda had also participated in a protest at the location the previous Wednesday.
Police have not yet indicated whether additional measures will be taken in response to the repeated demonstrations outside the journalist’s home.
