CBS: citizens show pessimism about their economic situation in Israel

This index examines both the public's expectations for a change in the situation in the country, and the change and expectations for a future change in their situation in the household, and is conducted according to OECD definitions. The decline in the index also indicates an actual deterioration of the situation, but also and especially the pessimism among the public regarding the general economic situation, and regarding their future situation. Last April, the index was at an all-time low of 31%, but in May, with the easing of the economy, it rose to 14%.
The Consumer Confidence Survey is conducted monthly among those aged 21 and over and collects information on consumer assessments regarding the expected changes in the economic situation. The lower the index value, the more pessimistic the public is, and the higher it is, the more optimistic it is. The negative rate means the difference between the rate of respondents who answered that their and the economy's economic situation will improve in the future, and the same rate among respondents who answered the opposite answer.
In relation to the expected change in the economic situation of the household in the coming year stands at 14% -, after in the whole of June it stood at 6% -, in May when the public felt that the corona behind us is up to 5%. However, with the outbreak of the second wave and the re-issuance of workers to the IDF and the weakness in the labor market, the public remains pessimistic about its expected situation in the coming year as well.
