In a rare overnight operation between Wednesday and Thursday, Israeli special forces conducted a covert landing in Syrian territory, targeting a suspected intelligence infrastructure near the town of Al-Kiswa, just south of Damascus. The IDF reportedly deployed troops via four helicopters in a mission that Israeli security sources have since confirmed involved dismantling surveillance equipment planted by Turkey.

According to a report on the Al-Hadath website, the operation successfully retrieved what were described as “secret and dangerous” Turkish listening devices, some of which had allegedly been operating for over a decade in the Damascus countryside.

Israeli Message to Syria: "Do Not Test Our Patience"

An Israeli security official involved in the operation told Al-Hadath, “We rescued secret and dangerous equipment during the landing near Damascus. The operation was absolutely necessary for Israel’s security.”

The official warned the Syrian regime against aligning itself too closely with Turkey, accusing Ankara of trying “to get too close to us.” He added that Israel had sent a direct and clear message to Damascus: “Do not test our patience or the limits of our actions.”

In a pointed statement, Israeli sources said the operation was not only a continuation of efforts to counter Iranian influence in Syria, but also a strategic move against Turkish attempts to penetrate regional intelligence circles. “We warned the Sharia government against playing with fire and listening to Turkey’s orders,” one source emphasized.

Minister Katz: "Forces Operating Day and Night"

Following the successful mission, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz issued a brief but firm statement: “Our forces are operating in all theaters of war day and night for the security of Israel.”

The strong remarks reflect a widening scope of Israel’s military and intelligence activities in Syria, extending beyond Iranian-backed militias to now include Turkish surveillance threats.

Syrian Media Confirms Strike, Reports Casualties

In response to the incident, Syria’s state-run SANA news agency and state television confirmed that an attack occurred near Jabal al-Mana, in the vicinity of Al-Kiswa. According to Syrian reports, the strike targeted a location where listening devices had been discovered and were in the process of being dismantled by Syrian army personnel. The attack reportedly resulted in the deaths of several regime security forces and the destruction of military vehicles.
