Education and health ministries on Monday concluded an outline for a gradual return to elementary, middle and high school studies. The ministry has concluded that fourth-12th graders will return to school this Sunday, May 17, but only for part of the week and in a limited format. All classes will be divided into separate groups of 20 students.
According to the layout, students will not be required to wear a mask, but will keep two meters apart. The teacher will also keep a similar distance from the students, and if he travels between them, they will be required to wear masks. It was further stipulated that the students could study in three study groups (majors), and the teachers - would teach up to six groups.
Currently, it appears that in middle schools where there is no upper division, the school will be held three times a week. On the other hand, in divisions where there is a upper division, the studies will take place for two days a week. On the other days, distance learning will take place.
Fourth and sixth grades will return to study in a limited format of five to six hours per week. Studies will take place in these classes only one day a week - Friday. Alternatively, there is also the option of a "flexible model" under which they will reach the schools on Sunday-Thursday at the end of the school day, after the classes of grades 1-3. Both methods are the same amount of weekly hours, with each local authority choosing the way the hours are spread over the days. A controversy arose between the ministries during the hearing, after the Ministry of Education opposed learning for just one day, claiming that it was not an optimal solution.
The plan was agreed upon at a meeting now in which Education Minister Shmuel Abubav, Director General of the Ministry of Health Moshe Bar Seaman Tov and representatives of the National Security Agency (Head of National Security) participated. During the discussion, the Ministry of Health agreed to the proposal of the Ministry of Education to study in groups of Twenty pupils, after the earlier number of pupils, stood at 17 for the group, and the debate takes place after last week, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu presented an outline to renew the curriculum this Sunday.
The chairman of the National Parent Committee, Eyal Baum, rejected the obvious outline. The Ministry of Health restrictions must be abolished and the system brought to a complete curriculum. "
"In the current outline, the burden on parents and the burden does not go down," Baum added. "There is only one way to bring parents back to the job market is to return the education system to the current solutions that are unsatisfactory."
Last week, students returned to grades 1-3 and 11-12. Classes are held for five days a week, Sundays through Thursdays, five hours of study daily. Learning is conducted in small groups of up to 17 students. This, while adhering to strict rules, including the requirement of a health declaration, maintaining hygiene, wearing a mask and physically separating the students.
In high schools, it is determined that learning will be centered for adulthood and planned so that students receive the assistance and reinforcement for the matriculation exams. School administrators will build marathon lesson plans for adulthood by study groups. It is recommended to study the concentrated model of two to three subjects for a maximum of one day, or the marathon model, but the decision on the learning model is the authority of the school principal. Each group of students is assigned a set of permanent teachers, and if necessary, teachers who do not have adult matriculation classes will teach distance learning lessons.
