Tention mounts in the southern region of israel near the Gaza strip.  30 rockets were fired into the western Negev. The Iron Dome system intercepted ten of them. Some of the rockets hit open areas. Seven people suffered anxiety.Israelli airforce attacked 80 Hamas targets in the Gaza strip.
Earlier, Palestinians reported that at least five Palestinians were killed in clashes along the separation fence.
According to the IDF, sixteen thousand Palestinians demonstrated along the perimeter fence and rioted. The rioters cut the fence in two places. They threw grenades, Molotov cocktails and stones. In the afternoon, Israeli air force helicopters and aircraft attacked Hamas terrorist targets in the northern Gaza Strip.
Riots were also taking place in Judea and Samaria. In a Palestinian village near Ramallah, one Palestinian was killed by IDF fire and eight were wounded. Three Border Police soldiers sustained light wounds. It appears that the violent incidents and the deaths of five Palestinians along the perimeter fence caused the rockets to be fired into the western Negev.
Former Defense Minister Amir Peretz says that it is necessary to live in Sderot in order to understand the gap between Prime Minister Netanyahu's statements and the reality on the ground. According to him, residents of the Gaza vicinity are trained and backing the IDF. But knowing that the government does not have a policy and all the effort is to achieve temporary quiet causes severe feelings. MK Peretz stressed that it was time to think about a broad and courageous political move and stop putting responsibility on the security forces
Every military effort requires a political effort on its side. We get an escape from responsibility and quarrels among cabinet members. This does not create a solution, the words of the former defense minister.
