In a shocking act of violence on Friday, Lyudmila Lipovsky, an 83-year-old woman, was stabbed to death in Herzliya, in what Israeli authorities are treating as a terrorist attack. The assailant, a 28-year-old West Bank resident, attacked Lipovsky at the entrance to an assisted living complex on Holocaust Martyrs Street where she lived.

Following the attack, Israel Post security guards quickly spotted the terrorist and shot him several times in the lower body, subduing him. He was then transported to a hospital for medical treatment.

The Shin Bet (Israel's internal security service) confirmed that the assailant was a former security aide, involved in thwarting terrorist infrastructure in Judea and Samaria. The terrorist had been exposed for his connections to terror groups and subsequently transferred to rehabilitation in Israel. A security source described him as an individual who had made significant contributions to thwarting attacks in the past but who now appears to have turned against Israel.

“This is a very unusual case where a former aide, who was once an agent of the state, has taken part in a terrorist attack,” a Shin Bet official said. The motive behind the attack is currently under investigation.

No Specific Warning

Tel Aviv District Commander Haim Sargaroff confirmed at the scene that authorities had no prior warning of the attack, but they acted with heightened sensitivity and vigilance. “We have a lot of information and are working in close cooperation with the Shin Bet. While there was no specific warning, we are constantly operating with high sensitivity,” he said.

Sargaroff also commended the quick response of the security guards, who, upon hearing the terrorist shout "Allahu Akbar," tried to make contact and neutralize the threat. Police arrived at the scene just seven minutes later, arresting the terrorist. “There was a quick response that ended the incident very quickly,” Sargaroff added.

Eyewitness Account: Quick Medical Intervention

Magen David Adom (MDA) medic Ayalon Boaron, who was nearby when the attack occurred, recalled his response. “I received an alert on the MDA app and immediately went to the scene,” he said. "I noticed a woman lying on the sidewalk near a nursing home with multiple stab wounds. While performing CPR alongside other medical teams, I witnessed the security guards shooting the terrorist."

Despite the efforts of medical responders, Lipovsky was later declared dead at the scene.

Recent Surge in Terror Attacks

This attack in Herzliya is part of a growing wave of violence in Israel. Just last week, a 74-year-old woman was seriously injured in a stabbing attack in her home in Jerusalem. The week before, Yehoshua Aharon Tuvia Simcha, a 12-year-old boy from Jerusalem, was killed in a shooting attack near the tunnel checkpoint. The terrorist, Ezz al-Din Maloah, opened fire on a civilian bus traveling from Beitar Illit to Jerusalem at the al-Khader junction in the West Bank, fleeing the scene after killing the child.

Additionally, at the end of last month, a shooting attack on a bus near Ariel injured nine people, three of them seriously. The attacker, Samer Hussein, 46, from Einabus near Nablus, opened fire on a bus at the Gitti Avissar junction before being shot dead by security forces.
