The United States launched a large-scale wave of airstrikes overnight against military targets in southern Iran after what Washington described as an Iranian drone attack on an oil tanker near the Strait of Hormuz, calling the incident a clear violation of the ceasefire agreement between the two countries.

According to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), American aircraft struck multiple military facilities, including communications infrastructure, air defense systems, drone storage sites and naval mine capabilities believed to support Iranian military operations in the Gulf.

Trump Issues Strong Warning to Iran

President Donald Trump said Iran had once again violated the ceasefire and warned that the United States would not tolerate continued aggression.

In a statement posted on social media, Trump said there could come a point when Washington would be forced to "finish the job militarily," adding that if such a scenario occurred, "the Islamic Republic of Iran would cease to exist."

Explosions Reported Across Southern Iran

Iranian media reported powerful explosions in the southern port city of Sirik, near the Strait of Hormuz. The semi-official Fars News Agency also reported an explosion in the village of Maysin on Qeshm Island.

Iranian military sources said one of the strikes targeted a communications tower in the Sirik area, while authorities have not yet released an official assessment of the damage.

Nine Iranian Drones Intercepted

A U.S. official told Fox News that the latest operation was significantly larger than the previous day's strikes.

The official added that U.S. and Bahraini forces intercepted nine Iranian drones launched toward American military positions in Bahrain, preventing further attacks on coalition forces.

Regional Alert as Gulf States Activate Air Defenses

The confrontation quickly spread across the Gulf region.

Bahrain's Interior Ministry announced that air raid sirens had been activated nationwide, while Kuwait's armed forces reported that its air defense systems were responding to what they described as a hostile attack involving missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles.

Tensions Continue to Rise

The latest military exchange represents another significant escalation between Washington and Tehran, increasing concerns over regional stability and the security of international shipping through the Strait of Hormuz—one of the world's most strategically important maritime energy routes.
