The IDF has reported the death of Sergeant Noam Israel Abdo, a 20-year-old soldier from Makdima Zoran serving in the 17th battalion (platoon commander training) of the Bislah Brigade. Abdo was killed in battle in the northern Gaza Strip, and his family has been notified. Following his death, he was posthumously promoted from sergeant to sergeant major.

In related news, a soldier from Battalion 7012 of the Alexandroni Brigade was seriously injured in combat in southern Lebanon. He has been evacuated for medical treatment, and his family has been informed. Since the conflict began, the IDF has lost 730 soldiers, with 347 fatalities occurring during ground operations in Gaza. Additionally, 4,590 soldiers have been injured, including 19 in mild condition, 152 in moderate condition, and 29 in serious condition.

Honoring Senior Sergeant Major Aviv Magen

The IDF has also confirmed the death of Senior Sergeant Major Aviv Magen, 43, from Moshav Hirot in Sharon, who succumbed to wounds sustained during a battle on the Lebanese border. Magen, along with Sergeant First Class Itai Azoulai, 25, was injured by a mortar shell fired by Hezbollah militants. Both soldiers served in the 5515 Commando Mobility Unit.

At the family's request, Magen’s photo has not been released. In a previous interview, he reflected on the emotional toll of serving in the reserves since October 7, stating, "You choose between two worlds. You come here to the reserves, putting yourself at risk, and it could mean that the family pays a very high price."

Acknowledging Family Support

Magen expressed deep gratitude for the support of his family during these challenging times. He emphasized the importance of their role in maintaining stability at home, stating, "Those who stay at home—girlfriends, spouses, parents—are not on the battlefield, but they are almost there, living in uncertainty."

Reflecting on moments of satisfaction during the war, Magen noted, "There are many such moments. Sometimes it’s the smallest word from a fighter that makes a difference. It doesn’t have to be something grandiose; it can simply be a 'thank you.'"

As the conflict continues, the IDF and the nation mourn the loss of these brave soldiers while recognizing the sacrifices made by their families.
