Sergeant Nissim Kahlon has been Killed in southern Gaza strip Raid - Terrorists Captured

In a tragic turn of events, Sergeant Nissim Kahlon, a 21-year-old fighter from Hadera serving in the Rotem Battalion of the Givati Brigade, lost his life during a raid on the Al-Amal neighborhood in Khan Yunis, located in the southern Gaza Strip. The operation, aimed at thwarting terrorist activity, uncovered new tunnels, some of which extended dangerously close to Nasser Hospital in the area. Another fighter sustained moderate injuries during the operation near Shifa Hospital in Gaza City.

The intensified operation, involving commando units and the Givati Brigade, commenced on Saturday night with a coordinated aerial and ground assault on terrorist targets. The assault targeted military buildings, underground tunnels, and other terrorist infrastructure in preparation for subsequent ground maneuvers. Following this initial strike, forces from the Commando Brigade, Givati, and the 7th Brigade encircled the area, utilizing heavy firepower.

The IDF reported that commando fighters swiftly surrounded the area, engaging terrorists in close combat and neutralizing dozens of them at close range. Subsequently, civilians were instructed to move to designated safe zones, allowing the military to focus on flushing out terrorists from their hiding places within buildings. Many terrorists surrendered during this phase of the operation.

Recent updates from the IDF spokesperson indicate ongoing clashes in the Al-Amal and Al-Karara areas, led by Division 98 forces. Over the past day, multiple terrorists have been eliminated, and weapons caches have been discovered. The 7th Brigade Combat Team alone has eliminated three terrorists, with additional aerial support targeting armed individuals approaching IDF positions.

"The Commando Formation and Givati Brigade continue to engage terrorists in the Al-Amal area of Khan Yunis," stated the IDF. "Significant progress has been made in eliminating terrorist threats, with numerous weapons seized and terrorist infrastructure destroyed during recent operations."

In parallel efforts, Givati fighters have been active in the Hamad neighborhood in western Khan Yunis, working to locate and neutralize terrorist routes while engaging in face-to-face encounters and receiving air support. Simultaneously, ongoing operations in the Al-Amal area have resulted in the arrest of several terrorists for interrogation, alongside the destruction of numerous terrorist structures.
