Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke on video with the Republican Senate members on Wednesday, and according to sources in the party - they are discussing the possibility of inviting him to speak at a joint session of Congress, with the House of Representatives.

According to one of the senators who participated in the meeting, Netanyahu said in the conversation that Israel intends to fight Hamas "to the end", despite the Biden administration's opposition to action in Rafah without a plan to evacuate the city's civilian population. "Even if we have to act alone, we will not stop," he said.
In the conversation, Netanyahu also expressed astonishment at Senate Democratic Majority Leader Chuck Schumer's call to bring forward the elections in Israel, citing polls showing broad American support for Israel. A Democratic source confirmed a report on the Punchbowl News website that Netanyahu asked to speak with the Democratic caucus, in addition to his remarks at the Senate Republican luncheon, but Schumer refused the request on the grounds that the talks should not take place "on a partisan basis."
American Secretary of State Anthony Blinken will visit Israel tomorrow. The statement from the US State Department states that he will discuss with his colleagues the ways in which Hamas can be defeated in Rafah "in a way that protects the civilian population and promotes Israel's security", as well as negotiations for a hostage release deal between Israel and Hamas and the expansion of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. Lincoln, who is visiting the area , landed today in Saudi Arabia, after which he is expected to visit Egypt as well. The US State Department said that he will "update the Israeli leaders on his talks with Arab leaders to achieve peace and security for Israelis, Palestinians and the region".
Earlier before his conversation with the Republican senators, Netanyahu spoke with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Republican Mike Johnson. In a conversation with reporters, Johnson said that he reiterated in the conversation the "strong support of the House of Representatives (controlled by the Republicans) for Israel," and that He shrugged off Schumer's words.
The leader of the Republican minority in the Senate, Mitch McConnell, also came out today against Schumer's words and accused the members of the Democratic Party of meddling in Israel's internal politics. McConnell said that "the blatant and hypocritical attempts of the Democrats to influence the internal politics of Israel are not just a criticism of a certain prime minister", but "a real insult to the independence of the State of Israel". He emphasized that Israel is a "sovereign nation, an immune democracy, and one of America's closest allies and friends - not a colony, not a protectorate, and not some affiliate of our internal politics."
McConnell implicitly criticized Chuck Schumer's call and said: "It is absurd enough for American senators to pose as duly elected members of the Knesset as if their positions have any influence on the internal conduct of politics in Israel." In the Bundestag (German parliament).
