The State Attorney’s Office filed an indictment on Friday against Maor Kringel and Tal Amram, both from Holon, on suspicion of espionage for Iran during the ongoing war. According to the charges, Kringel allegedly provided sensitive information to Iranian agents even while serving in the IDF reserves.

In a related development, police and the Shin Bet announced the arrest of a 23-year-old hotel employee from the Dead Sea on suspicion of collecting intelligence for Iran. His investigation remains ongoing.

Espionage Activities Allegedly Spanned Months

The indictment, filed in the Tel Aviv District Court, accuses Kringel of maintaining extensive contact with Iranian operatives from mid-2024 until his arrest in August 2025. Prosecutors said he knowingly collaborated with hostile agents and received payments in cryptocurrency for carrying out assignments.

According to the charges, Kringel documented dozens of sensitive locations, including:

  • Ports and shopping malls

  • Private residences and public centers

  • Municipal and government buildings

  • Judicial bodies

  • IDF bases and facilities

He also allegedly provided details of his reserve service, including the addresses of bases where he was stationed, and at one point photographed Shin Bet headquarters at the request of Iranian handlers.

Alleged Plot to Assassinate Reserve Commander

Investigators said Iranian agents offered Kringel 100,000 shekels in cryptocurrency to provide intelligence on his reserve commander, including photographing him as part of an alleged assassination plot. He also allegedly arranged meetings with Iranian operatives in Turkey and Azerbaijan.

Recruitment of Additional Operatives

Around January 2025, Kringel is accused of recruiting additional Israelis to carry out Iranian missions, including Tal Amram.

Amram allegedly filmed sensitive sites from his apartment window at the request of foreign agents. While he did not receive payment due to technical issues, prosecutors said he was later instructed to obtain equipment for spraying graffiti and participated in burning IDF uniforms with Kringel in a grove in Holon.

Charges and Prosecution’s Request

  • Maor Kringel has been charged with aiding the enemy in wartime and transferring information to a foreign agent with intent to harm state security.

  • Tal Amram faces charges of contact with a foreign agent.

The prosecution has requested that both men remain in detention until the end of legal proceedings.

In its submission, the State Attorney’s Office argued:

“Their dangerousness is demonstrated, among other things, by the exploitation of Kringel’s access to IDF bases during reserve service, and by the proactive contacts both defendants maintained with hostile foreign agents while Israel is engaged in a multi-front war.”
