Israel assassinated three of the sons of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the political bureau of Hamas, in Gaza City. The IDF claims that the three were on their way to carry out terrorist activity and that one of them was involved in holding hostages. I

n the Gaza Strip it is reported that three of Haniyeh's grandchildren were also killed in the attack, but the army does not confirm this. The commander of the Southern Command was also not informed of the action in advance. The one who approved the attack is the commander of the fire center of the Southern Command, an officer with the rank of lieutenant colonel
Palestinian media reported that the six were attacked from the air while traveling in a vehicle in the Shatti refugee camp in the west of the city. The IDF and the Shin Bet claim that the decision to approve the assassination was made in the same way that similar decisions were made during the war, that is, without the approval of the political echelon. However, army officials criticized this and said that there is a difference between an assassination operation at a medium level and below and harming the family members of one of the senior members of Hamas, who is directly involved in the negotiations for the hostage deal. An Israeli source confirmed to "Haaretz" that the assassination may indeed harm the further advancement of the deal.
In the video broadcast by the Al-Jazeera network, Haniyeh is seen receiving the news of the death of his sons and grandsons - Hazem and his daughter Amal; Amir and his children Khaled and Razan; and Muhammad After he was informed of their death, while visiting wounded people from the Gaza Strip hospitalized in a hospital in Doha, the capital of Qatar, he was heard blessing God and telling his companions "Let's continue to work." After that he said: "I thank God for the honor he gave me in the death of three of my sons and some of my grandchildren. They were honored. They remained with our Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, they did not leave and did not run away."
Haniyeh also referred to the negotiations for the hostage deal and said: "The enemy believes that by attacking the families of leaders, he will make us soften the demands of our people. Anyone who believes that killing my sons will force Hamas to change its position is delusional." Haniyeh added that his sons and grandsons "are martyrs on the way to the liberation of Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque", and emphasized that "their blood is not redder than the blood of the Palestinian people".

In an official statement, Hamas accused Israel of the deaths of Haniyeh's sons and grandsons, and said that it "took advantage of the holiday visit (Eid al-Fitr - 38) and massacred them." A source in the organization in the Gaza Strip told "Haaretz" that the assassination was "a foolish step Hamas is public and does not weaken it. Precisely the opponents of Hamas, and also in networks not identified with the organization in the Palestinian and Arab arena, attack the leadership of Hamas abroad for living a life of luxury and for abandoning the Palestinian people, and here comes the assassination and proved that the sons of the head of the organization are still in Gaza and that Haniyeh himself is paying a personal price. This proves that in Israel There are a bunch of revengers and not statesmen."
Haniyeh has a total of 13 sons and daughters. Some live in the Gaza Strip and some in Turkey and Qatar. According to the Palestinians, most of his sons work in commerce and real estate and are not recognized by the public as having a direct connection to the political or military activities of Hamas. The main criticism of them is that they earn large sums of money thanks to being the sons of the Haniyeh. One of them, Muad, was severely criticized for leaving for Turkey and even received a Turkish passport so that he could move around easily. During the war, an IDF spokesman published a receipt in Arabic that he says indicates that one of Haniyeh's sons purchased jewelry for tens of thousands of shekels.
In his words from Qatar, Haniyeh noted that in recent years he has lost many members of his family. On October 17, ten days after the outbreak of the war, it was reported in the Gaza Strip that three of Haniyeh's relatives were killed in a shelling of his brother's house in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood.
