In a tragic turn of events, Master Sergeant (res.) Uriel Aviad Silverman, aged 23, from Moshav Nahalim, fell in battle in the south of the Gaza Strip. The incident also left a reserve armor officer and a reserve fighter in Battalion 7421 seriously injured. Additionally, a reserve fighter in Battalion 466, part of the Shu'ale HaMarom formation (646), sustained serious injuries in a separate battle in the center of the Gaza Strip. The injured were promptly evacuated for medical treatment, and their families have been informed.

IDF spokespersons disclosed details of an underground tunnel in Khan Yunis through which hostages were previously held. The tunnel, measuring approximately 830 meters in length and 20 meters in depth, was discovered during the advance of forces from the 98th Division in the southern Gaza Strip. The forces engaged terrorists within the tunnel, resulting in their elimination. However, no hostages were found inside as they had been relocated to another location.

The New York Times reports that Israel is falling behind its set goals in the ongoing conflict, progressing more slowly than anticipated. Senior commanders, who chose to remain anonymous, expressed frustration with the government's strategy regarding civilian issues in Gaza. The commanders emphasized the conflicting goals of freeing abductees and dismantling Hamas, suggesting that a prolonged military campaign might not be the most effective approach.

A leaked IDF document indicated initial expectations of gaining operational control over Gaza City, Khan Yunis, and Rafah by the end of December. However, as of now, there has been no advancement towards Rafah, and Hamas remains unsubdued in all of Khan Yunis.

The IDF responded to The New York Times report, asserting that the statements made by senior officials do not reflect the IDF's position. The release of abductees is reiterated as a crucial goal, requiring a supreme effort.

Criticism from Minister Gadi Eisenkot adds to the complex situation. Eisenkot expressed concerns about the government's transparency and leadership decisions, refusing to explicitly state whether he trusts Prime Minister Netanyahu.

As control wanes in the northern Gaza Strip, Hamas activities resume, with terrorists launching rockets into Israel. A senior Israeli source warns that a lack of control may erode international support and limit allies' willingness to provide military assistance.

Meanwhile, the IDF, under the Intelligence Division's direction, raided a munitions production complex in the northern Gaza Strip, destroying machines for rocket production and confiscating materials for over 800 rockets.

In a surprising shift, senior Israeli officials claim that Hamas now prioritizes a complete cessation of the war and IDF withdrawal from Gaza over the release of prisoners. Iran, on the other hand, blames Israel for the deaths of five "military advisers" in Syria, including high-ranking members of the Revolutionary Guards.

The situation remains dynamic, with ongoing military operations, diplomatic considerations, and a complex geopolitical landscape.
