In a significant development, Israel and Hamas have reached preliminary understandings on most clauses of a deal for the release of abductees. The proposed framework is a 35-day transaction, involving the release of Israeli abductees in Gaza, reciprocal release of Palestinian prisoners by Israel, and additional humanitarian aid to Gaza. Key details, such as the number of prisoners for each kidnapper, have been determined. However, a major hurdle remains over Hamas's demand for an absolute ceasefire, which Israel is reluctant to accept.

The War Cabinet convened to discuss the deal, while CIA Chief William Burns is set to meet Mossad Head David Barnea and Qatari PM Muhammad al-Thani in Europe. The reported deal includes a prolonged ceasefire commitment by Israel in exchange for the release of all abductees. Hamas opposes the proposed 60-day ceasefire, insisting on a permanent one. Talks are ongoing, and another point of contention is Israel's suggestion to exile Hamas leaders, rejected by the Palestinians.

These negotiations unfold a day before the International Court of Justice's decision on a petition against Israel, questioning the possibility of genocide in Gaza. South Africa claims Israel intends genocide, seeking an interim order to cease hostilities. A Hamas official in Lebanon, Osama Hamdan, mentioned Hamas's potential response if the court issues such an order.

Qatar condemned PM Netanyahu's statements criticizing Doha's role in mediation efforts. Despite the tension caused, a source close to the Qatari negotiation team emphasized their commitment to saving lives and not letting personal disputes affect mediation efforts.
