In response to heightened security concerns stemming from increased threats by Iran and Hamas, as well as a surge in anti-Semitic incidents worldwide, the National Security Headquarters has raised travel warnings for Israelis in 80 countries. Notably, Great Britain, France, Germany, Russia, Brazil, Argentina, and Australia have been upgraded from level 1 to level 2, indicating an "occasional threat." South Africa, Eritrea, and select Asian countries now face a level 3 warning, signaling a "medium threat level" and advising against non-essential travel.

The National Security Headquarters issued general recommendations for Israeli travelers:

  1. Postpone travel to countries with warnings: Especially to Arab and Middle Eastern nations, the North Caucasus, countries surrounding Iran, and certain Muslim countries in Asia.

  2. Monitor local situations: Check for protests and violence against Israel, even in countries without travel warnings.

  3. Avoid demonstrations: Stay away from protests and gatherings that may pose risks.

  4. Remain vigilant: Exercise caution and awareness during the stay, avoiding the externalization of Israeli and Jewish symbols.

  5. Information and contacts: Find emergency service numbers and local Israeli representation contact details in the chosen destination.

A senior official emphasized the unusual nature of the travel warnings for Western European countries, stating it's not a directive against travel but a call for increased vigilance. The official urged Israelis to check travel advisories, stay informed about on-ground events, and take necessary personal precautions.

The MLA (Ministry of Local Authorities) is actively countering terrorist efforts by Iran and its affiliates globally. With the upcoming Hanukkah holiday, Israelis are advised to attend events only after verifying their security, particularly in countries with a level 3 warning.

Concerns were raised about Israelis in Sinai, a region with a level 4 threat, prompting a blanket recommendation against travel. Despite this, most Israelis have acted prudently, avoiding the Egyptian peninsula.

As global tensions persist, the National Security Headquarters remains focused on safeguarding Israelis abroad, navigating a landscape marked by both terrorist threats and instances of anti-Semitism.

This is a developing story, and updates will be provided as the situation unfolds.
