P.M Netanyahu to Face Investigation Over Lapses in Recent Hamas Attack: admits responsibility

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced that he will face an investigation regarding the security lapses that enabled the recent terrorist attack by Hamas in the southern region of the country on October 7. However, he has stated that this inquiry will take place only after the current military campaign concludes.

Netanyahu described October 7 as a dark day in Israel's history and emphasized that a thorough investigation will be conducted to determine what transpired in the southern border and the Gaza Strip. He stressed that all those involved, including himself, will be held accountable, but these inquiries will occur post-conflict.

"As Prime Minister, I am responsible for securing the future of the country, and my current focus is leading Israel and its people to a decisive victory over our adversaries. Now is the time to unite our efforts towards this goal," Netanyahu stated.

The Prime Minister also confirmed that the Israeli government plans to designate national days of mourning in remembrance of the tragic event. He expressed condolences to the bereaved families and emphasized his commitment to rebuilding the affected communities.

Furthermore, Netanyahu disclosed that Israel is preparing for a ground offensive, the timing of which will be determined by the Cabinet in collaboration with the Chief of Staff. He did not specify when or explain why, emphasizing the need to safeguard the nation's soldiers.

"We are committed to achieving our wartime objectives without political considerations and are relentlessly pursuing all Hamas members, above and below ground, inside and outside Gaza," Netanyahu stated.

This announcement marks the first time that Prime Minister Netanyahu has explicitly mentioned "kibbutzim" when referring to the southern settlements affected by the terrorist attack, indicating the government's intention to rebuild these communities.
