Report for 2021 of the employment arm of the Ministry of Economy and Industry: The employment rate of ultra-Orthodox and Arab women in the fourth quarter of 2021 was high compared to 2019, on the eve of the corona crisis, and even reached the employment target set by the government for 2030 - 81%.
This is the highest figure in the rate of women among ultra-Orthodox women in Israel, and very close to the employment rate of non-ultra-Orthodox Jewish women, which stood at 83% in the fourth quarter of 2021. However, it is interesting to note that a recently published report by the News Authority for 2021 stated that during the year, 1,200 ultra-Orthodox women left the high-tech industry. At the same time, the proportion of ultra-Orthodox working men in the last quarter of 2021 was only 50.3%.
The employment arm's report also shows that there was a 15% increase in the employment rate in the high-tech information and communication industry, in parallel with a 19% hourly decrease in the employment rate in the hospitality and food industry (hotels and restaurants) in the fourth quarter of 2021. This is a long time according to reports from the Central Bureau of Statistics.
The report also notes that the rate of employment in high-tech industries and high-tech occupations is increasing at an accelerated rate since 2019. In 2021, 10.3% of employed persons were employed in high-tech industries, and 14.6% of employed persons were employed in industry or high-tech occupations. High-tech technology, but not necessarily in the industry itself (for example, software developers employed by banks or government offices).
The report also reveals that in the last quarter of 2021, 17% of workers in Israel worked from home. In contrast, Arab men and women hardly work from home - only 2% of Arab employed people have worked from home in the past year.
The Employment Service also published its annual report for 2021 this morning, which shows that in 2021 more than 1.1 million different job seekers passed through the service, with 230.9 thousand of them receiving support from one of the tools operated by the service or job referrals. This is an increase of 50% compared to only 156.3 thousand people who received service in the first corona year, 2020, and 170.7 thousand who received service from the employment service on the eve of the corona, during 2019.
The Employment Service also reports in the annual report for the past year that during 2021 there was a jump in the number of unique participants taking part in one of the employment service programs, and stood at 96.6 thousand job seekers.
Employment counseling received 50.5 thousand job seekers from the service, and the most significant increase was recorded in workshops conducted by internal employment service facilitators, with 19.4 thousand participants in 2021 compared to only 3.9 thousand in 2020, at the height of the corona crisis, and even lower in 2019. That is, the report emphasized Employment service, the volume of this activity in 2021 has increased almost 20 times compared to 2019.
