The Israeli Air Force, operating under the Northern Command, conducted an airstrike Tuesday evening on a Hamas training compound inside the Ain al-Hilweh refugee camp in southern Lebanon.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported 13 fatalities in the strike. Hospitals in the nearby city of Sidon, where the camp is located, issued urgent calls for blood donations to treat the wounded.

IDF: Target Was a Hamas Training and Operational Hub

According to the IDF, the facility served as a center for training, indoctrination and operational planning by Hamas operatives, designed to support attacks against Israeli forces.

In an official statement, the military said:
“Before the attack, steps were taken to reduce the chance of harming civilians, including the use of precision weapons, aerial surveillance and additional intelligence information.”

The IDF added that it is “acting against the establishment of the Hamas terrorist organization in Lebanon, and will continue to act forcefully against Hamas terrorists wherever they operate.”

Broader IDF Activity in Southern Lebanon

Earlier this week, the IDF revealed additional operations in southern Lebanon targeting Hezbollah infrastructure:

Division 91 Operations

An IDF spokesman noted that Division 91 conducted a series of actions aimed at disrupting Hezbollah’s reconstruction efforts.
During the operation, Israeli forces:

  • Eliminated three terrorists

  • Struck five terror targets

  • Located weapons and operational equipment

Night Raid in Itron

In a separate nighttime mission in the village of Itron, forces from Brigade 228 destroyed several buildings recently identified as Hezbollah operational sites, including structures under renewed reconstruction.

Escalating Tensions Along the Northern Front

The latest strike reflects the continued expansion of IDF efforts to block Hamas and Hezbollah activity across southern Lebanon, as cross-border exchanges intensify and Israel seeks to prevent both organizations from establishing new operational strongholds near its frontier.
