Heavy Fire From Iran and Hezbollah Hits Israel on Fifth Day of Conflict: No Civilian Fatalities

On the fifth consecutive day of the Israel–Iran war, Israel came under sustained fire from both Iranian forces and Hezbollah in Lebanon, marking one of the most intense days of cross-border hostilities since the conflict began.

Air raid sirens blared across northern, central and coastal regions of Israel, including the Galilee, Haifa metropolitan area and parts of the Sharon plain, as multiple barrages of rockets, missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were launched toward Israeli territory.

Air Defenses Engage Dozens of Threats

The Israel Defense Forces reported that its air defense systems intercepted the majority of incoming threats. Several launch attempts were tracked originating from Iranian military positions and Hezbollah-controlled areas in southern Lebanon. The IDF said a number of projectiles fell in open fields without causing direct civilian fatalities.

A limited number of people were lightly injured during shelter movements, according to emergency services, but there were no confirmed reports of serious injuries from direct hits.

In response, the IDF conducted targeted airstrikes on key Hezbollah facilities and launch sites in southern Lebanon, according to military officials. The strikes were described as aimed at degrading the group’s operational capabilities and deterring further attacks on northern Israel.

Separately, Israeli aircraft struck Iran-linked military infrastructure believed to be used for long-range launch planning and coordination.

Hezbollah Claims Retaliatory Attacks

Hezbollah issued a statement affirming that its actions were in “defense of the region” and a response to what it described as Israeli aggression. The group said its rocket launches targeted Israeli military positions, but Israeli officials maintain that some of the indiscriminate fire posed risks to civilian areas.

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam condemned the escalation, urging all parties to exercise restraint and warning that further conflict could have devastating consequences for Lebanon’s stability.

Continued Tensions on Multiple Fronts

The renewed exchange comes as the confrontation between Israel and Iran enters its fifth day, with the United States playing a central supporting role in defensive operations. Washington has reiterated its commitment to protecting maritime and air routes, and U.S. naval forces are reported to be on heightened alert in the region.

Analysts say the involvement of Hezbollah, following days of direct Iranian attacks, signals a widening of the theater of conflict that could draw in additional regional actors if not contained.

Regional Impact

Sirens have also been reported near border communities across northern Israel as well as in central population centers, underscoring the broad geographic scale of the threat. Residents have been urged to follow shelter directives and to stay informed through official channels.

International leaders continue to call for de-escalation and humanitarian safeguards, but the situation remains highly volatile as both sides show no immediate signs of backing down.
