The identities of the two individuals murdered in a missile barrage in Kiryat Shmona have been released. Dvir Sharvit, 43, originally from Kiryat Arba, and Roital Yehud, 45, formerly of Eilat, were struck while walking their dogs near their home. The couple had moved to Kiryat Shmona two years ago.

Tragic Background of the Victims
Roital's family revealed that she had recovered from cancer two years prior and relocated to Kiryat Shmona to support her partner, who had begun working as a confectioner in the Galilee. Despite family concerns urging her to leave for Be'er Sheva, Roital and Dvir chose to remain in the city with their three dogs, all of whom were also killed by shrapnel from the missile attack.

Details of the Incident
According to MDA CEO Eli Bin, the couple was walking their dogs when they were injured, with reports suggesting they did not have time to seek shelter. It remains unclear whether they were struck directly by a missile or by shrapnel. The barrage involved approximately 20 missiles, some landing within city limits.

Community Reaction and Mourning
Dvir's relative, Meir (Miko) Ben Shatrit, expressed devastation, describing Dvir as a caring individual with a "huge heart" and a love for justice. Roital’s sister echoed the sentiment, mourning her loss and calling her a righteous person.

Local Authorities Respond
Acting Mayor Ofir Yehezkali addressed the tragedy, emphasizing the difficult circumstances faced by Kiryat Shmona residents, many of whom have chosen to stay in the city despite the ongoing danger. He confirmed the missiles landed just meters from the couple as they walked their dogs, urging residents to remain vigilant and cautious.

Emergency Response
Aviad Hertz, an MDA emergency medic, reported that upon arrival, the medical team found Dvir and Roital unconscious and unfortunately had to pronounce them dead at the scene. The local community is mourning the tragic loss as investigations into the attack continue.
