The Ministry of Economy and Industry, in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and the Innovation Authority, launched the Energy Innovation Community in Israel. The innovation community is expected to build an engine of economic growth in a market valued at $ 1 trillion a year
David Lefler, Director General of the Ministry of Economy and Industry, in front of hundreds at the conference: "The technologies in Israel exist and are excellent. The problem is in the application and assimilation of the technologies in the Israeli market and in the Israeli reality. Only cooperation between the government and the private sector will lead Israel to meet international standards of renewable energy.
The great importance of the innovation community is in the collaborations and in the definition of common goals and priorities. These will lead to the removal of barriers and the creation of enabling regulation, streamlining the economy, economic savings and increasing productivity for the benefit of all citizens in the country. "

The Energy Innovation Community, EnergyCom.IL, was established at the initiative of the Ministry of Economy and Industry and in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and the Innovation Authority, in cooperation with the winning associations, the Eilat-Eilot Renewable Energy Company, the Israeli Smart Energy Association, and YPE. The community's goal is to build an engine of economic growth, by positioning Israel as a leader in innovation in the energy markets, expanding research in the field, creating jobs, increasing exports and perfecting the energy markets in Israel.
The global energy market is in the midst of a fundamental change and creates opportunities valued at about $ 1 trillion a year. The "hot" areas include the transition to smart grid and cyber, energy trading, renewable energy production, energy storage, energy and smart city integration, clean fuels (such as hydrogen), and many issues in the areas of automation and digitization.
At the launch conference, representatives of the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Energy, the Innovation Authority, and leading players in industry and academia met - among them the venture capital fund "Nature Capital", the Electric Company, ICL, Bazen, Dalia Power Plants, Solaredge, Bar-Ilan University.
According to Elad Shaviv, Director of the Energy Innovation Community, "Israel, as a global innovation leader, both in the fields of renewable energy and in the fields of ICT and communications, is at the center of interest of leading electricity companies and equipment manufacturers from around the world.
The opportunities for entrepreneurship in the field are enormous and there is a huge need for innovation in a rapidly changing market estimated at $ 1 trillion a year. "
Dr. Gideon Friedman, Acting Chief Scientist at the Ministry of Energy: “There is great importance in establishing a vibrant energy community with government support. The field of energy is complex, requires many long-term investments, is accompanied by regulation, and combines many areas of knowledge. Due to this, it is necessary to encourage and accompany the entrepreneurs and activists in the market, to ensure a living market, full of innovation and initiative. Only in this way can we, as a country, continue to lead in a rapidly changing market, in an area that needs to address many challenges, including the climate challenge. "
