In light of the security situation, foreign airlines continue to cancel their flights to and from Israel in the coming days. Only a few foreign airlines continue to operate flights to Israel, including the Israeli airlines El Al, Israir and Arkia, and meanwhile also the Ethiopian Airlines, which at this stage has not yet announced the cancellation of the upcoming flight that is scheduled to depart at 1:00 at night, Play Dubai, Aegean Scheduled to fly on Monday and others.
The first to cancel the flights were the American airlines United, Delta and American Airlines, which announced last Wednesday that they would suspend their flights for several days. Subsequently, the Lufthansa Group, which includes Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines, announced that it too was canceling upcoming flights. Further foreign companies announced the cancellation of flights: Air France, British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, Turkish Airlines, Air Europe and others.
Last night, the Seychelles government decided not to allow Air Seychelles to take off for Israel. The decision was made when the Israeli passengers had already handed over their luggage and received the boarding pass. Air Seychelles, the captain and flight attendants were ready to set off but following the local government decision the flight was canceled. The passengers were transferred to hotels on the island and the solution found for them is an Air Seychelles flight this afternoon to Dubai and there, after a connection of about two hours, they boarded an El Al flight to Tel Aviv.
The cancellation of flights by foreign companies means that hundreds of Israelis are abroad with canceled flight tickets and are required to fly to other destinations in the world. Israeli airlines are increasing flights to return passengers to Israel. El Al has so far added flights to London, New York, and even replaced the plane. Which was supposed to arrive from Paris in order to increase the number of passengers.
The number of daily flights and passengers arriving at Ben Gurion Airport is relatively low in light of the social distance limit that allows entry and exit of only about 10,000 passengers a day. By order of RTA (Civil Aviation Authority), all international passenger flights have been landing in Sde Ramon since last Thursday while departures are still being made from Ben Gurion Airport.
