The Corona Cabinet approved tonight (Tuesday) the operation of all malls from tomorrow, in accordance with the rules of the malls pilot. In addition, all markets and museums will be able to open, depending on the outline formulated for them. Also, in accordance with the opening of trading, it was approved to cancel the exception set during the closure period for operating stores for home maintenance and communication products and computers in the format of "essential stores", and to compare the occupancy conditions with those of other non-essential stores. Meanwhile, the decision to impose a nightly closure on Israel from Wednesday evening was revoked. The reason is legal. The Attorney General informed the Cabinet that it would not be possible to defend a decision on nocturnal quarantine if all medical professionals believe that there is no professional reason to operate it and that this quarantine will not reduce the infection rate and morbidity in Corona.
Following the government's decision to allow the malls to operate under the guidelines of the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Economy, which led the pilot together with the Ministries of Finance, Health and National Security, published guidelines on whether the malls can be operated. There are about 120-140 closed malls in Israel. , And anyone who meets the conditions of the purple mark may open.
Finance Minister Israel Katz said after the approval in the Corona Cabinet that "these days it is very important to open the entire store for the livelihood of business owners and provide service for Hanukkah and winter. I call on sellers and buyers to be very strict in rules to prevent disease and allow continued economy."
According to the established guidelines, the operators of the malls are obligated to establish a digital regulation mechanism for customers to enter the place, in accordance with the maximum permitted occupancy. Also, the owner or operator of the mall should separate as much as possible between the entrances to the mall and the exits from it. The maximum allowable catch is in the ratio of one person per 15 square meters of the mall area.
The area of the place will be calculated according to the area open to the public from the area of the place and without parking areas, warehouses, operating areas and more. In stores up to 150 square meters it will be possible to put a capacitor, in a ratio of one person per 7 square meters or up to 10 people. A store or place with an area of more than 150 square meters will be allowed to accommodate a number of people that does not exceed one person's ratio per 15 square meters.
The move to expanded activity of the malls will allow the return to work of tens of thousands of workers, who have been absent from work for many months. At the same time, the opening will enable a solution for the general public that can complete purchases it has needed in recent months, profit from the gatherings that have so far focused on street shops and open areas, get the economy back on track and bring it back to growth.
Economy Minister Amir Peretz added that a lot of hard work has been done to get the malls back in operation, both by the pilot offices and by the mall owners, so that they will meet the guidelines. "We now call on the consumer public to mobilize for the success of the activity. As long as the public maintains the guidelines, avoids unnecessary crowds, visits malls during all hours of the day and not during peak hours, wears a mask and adheres to all guidelines, we can continue to operate the malls," Peretz clarified.
