Black Friday madness in Israel: More than NIS 887 million were spent - 19% increase compared to 2021

The Israeli buyers do not give up the traditional shopping days. According to the data of the clearing company Automatic Bank Services (SBA), the expenses of Israelis on credit cards amounted to more than NIS 887 million following Black Friday sales in Israel. This is a 19% increase compared to the corresponding expenses last year, which amounted to NIS 745 million.
The Sheba company data refers to purchases both in the physical stores and online purchases, last Friday November 25 between the hours of 8:00 and 15:00 (opening hours of the physical stores). At the level of daily spending, the increase recorded was more moderate and stood at 11.2 Thus, on Friday the scope of expenses amounted to NIS 1.29 billion, compared to NIS 1.16 billion last year.
Beyond Black Friday, in recent years it is customary in Israel to celebrate a local "shopping holiday" - Shopping IL - which is celebrated for two days, November 9-10. According to the data of the clearing company, the amount of spending on the local holiday over the two days amounted to NIS 2.686 billion, a similar amount of spending to that recorded in 2021. The outline of the expenses on the credit cards was made mainly through online purchases which are responsible for 58% of the expenses and amounted to NIS 1.57 billion, an amount similar to that recorded last year.
The figures for the last two years are lower than those that characterized 2020. In this year, the online expenses in Shopping IL amounted to NIS 1.63 billion, an amount that is 3.5% higher than the expenses in the last two years.
